The Power of the Rhône River: Thousands of years ago, the Rhône Glacier melted and carved a wide, flat valley. In the past, the river was wild and often flooded the flat lands, creating dangerous swamps.- The Twin Hills (The Outcrops): In the middle of this flat, flooded valley, two massive rock hills stood high above the water. These hills are made of very hard rock that resisted the power of the ancient glaciers. For early humans, these hills were a gift from nature: they were dry, safe from floods, and incredibly easy to defend against enemies.
