Its official name is “Swiss Confederation“, it has an area of 41,285 km2 and is divided into 26 cantons.
The official currency is the Swiss Franc.
Switzerland has borders with France, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and Italy and has a population of 8,680,890 inhabitants. Its capital is Bern and other important cities are: Basel, Zurich, Lausanne and Geneva.
This country recognizes four languages as “national languages” which in order of importance are: Swiss German, French, Italian and Romansh. These languages are largely limited to specific regions, although there are also bilingual areas such as Biel Bienne or Freiburg where both French and German are spoken.
